Sp. Ed. Instructional Coach

I’m very excited to be a Special Education Instructional Coach at Ascent again this year. This will be my 16th year as an educator. I taught upper elementary for 10 years before moving to junior high and special education.

I have a varied educational background. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Utah. Go UTES!! When my own children started in elementary school, I discovered a love for teaching and helping students reach their potential. I went back to school and earned a Master’s degree in Education, and, later, a Master’s degree in Special Education.

I grew up in Salt Lake City and met my husband there. We have been married 33 years and have three children. They all have special needs and mental health issues, so I’ve had a lot of practical life experience in trying to help them succeed in life. When our kids were little, we lived in Germany for three years. We still miss the green-ness and the fabulous food.

My hobbies and interests include reading, reading, and... reading. I also really enjoy riding my bicycle. My other “bike” is a Harley, which I also enjoy riding. I love spending time with my family, watching movies, and playing several video games.
