SPED Instructional Coach

I’m very excited to be teaching at Ascent again this year. This will be my 14th year teaching. I enjoy being part of our junior high and teaching special education students.

I have a varied educational background. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Utah. Go UTES!! When my own children started in elementary school, I discovered a love for teaching and helping students reach their potential. I went back to school and earned a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. I love learning, so I have several other degrees and teaching endorsements.

I grew up in Salt Lake City and met my husband there. We have been married 31 years and have three children. They all have special needs and mental health issues, so I’ve had a lot of practical life experience in trying to help them succeed in life. When our kids were little, we lived in Germany for three years. We still miss the green-ness and the fabulous food. When we returned to Utah we settled in the Layton area.

My hobbies and interests include reading, reading, and... reading. I also really enjoy riding my bicycle, and participate in several organized rides every year. My other “bike” is a Harley, which I also enjoy riding. I love spending time with my family, watching movies, and playing several video games.
