At Ascent Academies of Utah (AAU), we believe in providing students with the best educational experience possible. That’s why we use the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) as our primary educational approach.
SEM is a comprehensive, research-based model for teaching and learning that focuses on developing the whole child. It emphasizes the importance of providing students with opportunities to explore their interests and talents, and to develop their strengths and abilities. The model encourages students to take risks, think creatively, and become problem solvers.
We use SEM to create an engaging and challenging learning environment. We provide students with a variety of activities and projects that allow them to explore their interests and develop their skills. We also use SEM to help students develop strong academic skills, such as reading, writing, and mathematics, while also teaching them important life skills, such as teamwork, collaboration, and communication.
During regular classes, teachers incorporate SEM principles by providing enrichment opportunities within their curriculum. For example, a math teacher might challenge advanced students with more complex problems or allow them to explore different mathematical concepts in-depth.
Overall, the SEM program provides opportunities for students to pursue their interests and develop their talents during the school day, while also enhancing their regular academic learning.
We believe that SEM is an effective approach to education because it allows students to develop their strengths and abilities, while also providing them with the necessary skills to succeed in the future. We are committed to providing our students with the best educational experience possible, and we believe that the Schoolwide Enrichment Model is the best way to do that.
